Averaging Down is a Term of Stock market which is used when an Investor Buy More and more stocks when stock or some scrips Price Goes Down. because of This your average purchase of price of that stock or scrips decreases.

Example:

Suppose You did Buy ICICI Bank Ltd Stock at 250 Rs Price and Today their Price is Goes Down and its price goes to 230 so you buy more ICICI Bank Ltd stock, here your average buying price is 250+230/2=240. This System Called Averaging Down.
